WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF PODCASTNG
Some may know by now my brother Dave and I have a podcast called Living In God’s Rhyme. Dave has the technical skills to make this happen. He has two podcasts of his own. Me, I write the poetry as Dave has noted in a recent recording of a podcast that I am the Barry Manilow of poetry. We do have a few laughs and discuss the inspiration for the poems and what Dave got out of them, me too.
I believe we have two things we need to get people to overcome. The first is poetry. How do I know this? Experience. When the first book, God’s Rhyme was published, the publisher sent me a list of possible businesses to inquire about book signings. I called a Christian book store in Warren, MI. (about 50 miles south of Port Huron and one of many suburbs of Detroit). When the owner asked me what type of book I had written, I told him Christian poetry. His response, “Oh, you know what that’s like.” Yup, he was right.
The second thing we need to do help overcome is maybe Christian poetry. I do know that we have a couple of listeners that are not Christian or are at an early stage in getting to understand all of God’s grace and what it means.
But we do have one really big advantage on our side - God!
A few years ago a friend sent me a devotional book on the poetry of the Bible. I have started to look at this in a deeper way. It is encouraging that part of God’s word was written as poetry. And for a reason.
Leading up to the first podcast I posted numerous cryptic poems about starting a podcast with my brother. Today I have written a poem about the podcast. Maybe, you figure it out.
I want to insert an afterthought here. I need to make sure I include this in case you aren’t a fan of poetry.
The podcast is available on all major podcast sites. Thank you Dave. You can also listen on our website, livingingodsrhymepodcast.com. Show notes and some new poetry are on the Blog Page. Through the show notes, you can read the poems in the books and maybe after a number of years have all of the poems at your fingertips. Podcasts are dropped, a podcaster term I’m told, every Friday morning, Eastern Time. We have dropped 17 as of last Friday.
An idea came to my brother,
He was told to contact another.
I guess there must have been a voice
Not leaving him any choice.
So my brother pondered
As his mind wandered,
Thinking, how will he answer.
Of three he’s not the dancer.
Two weeks later he made the call
He could no longer stall.
No matter yes or no,
It was time for him to go.
Hey brother, how about a podcast
About your three published books:
He had finally explained and asked.
Me being me, the answer a few days took.
So here we are,
Not yet stars,
Not that we want to be.
We’ll wait and see.
The reason is FAITH:
What it has done for me,
What is it doing for him.
I see in his face
What I know will be,
His singing a hymn.
I only pray for the podcast’s success
So others will see how God will bless
Those who receive
And then believe.
God, through Jesus, does save
Those who in this world misbehave.
Through God’s grace and my faith
Like the Apostle Paul, I will finish my race.
If you have a minute,
Or maybe forty.
Take a listen.
It sometimes rhymes.
This is not what I thought I would write before prayer.
