THE SHADOW ON THE WALL
Entering the room I heard a sound.
Looking as I turned around
I saw a shadow on the wall.
And again I heard a voice call.
There was only me.
How could this be?
The shadow did not move,
Nor did itself remove.
Again a voice I heard
It said only one word,
“Believe.”
Believe.
Then, “the battle has been won.
Why do you worry my son?”
Then the shadow moved from the wall,
And again I heard a voice from within call.
“Life, do not fear it.
I am the Holy Spirit.
Sent from God above
With his infinite love.”
“I will lead you in all you do.
The old is gone, we will find the new.
As you believe
Now do receive.”
“God has a plan
For every man
Who confesses
And professes.”
“Be still, and know that He is God.”
The shadow then entered me,
And now all that I can ever be
Is what God does see.
I have been set free.

THE WALK
Oh those old and aching bones
Walking on a sea of stones,
Following the path set before him
He smiles and sings a mighty hymn.
There is One who walks before,
Who once did open the door
And invited the other to walk,
And follow, to pray and talk
There were many star filled nights
And many sunlit glorious sights.
He who walked first would pray,
The other only wanted to stay
One day the journey did end.
The other said to his new found friend,
I believe it is time,
I have lived my rhyme.
The One took him into his arms.
And the other knew no harm
Would come upon him,
He had sung the hymn.
Before, he had given his life
To the One who took his strife
And led him to the certainty
Of being with the One for eternity.
Who is leading your journey? Know the
Truth of Jesus and be set free from worldly
distractions. Find peace in your day and
eternity’s days.

Mute.
Okay. That would be a good title for a poem.
Mute the sound in that I have found.
Weakness will abound
cuz no one will hear,
No one will fear
what the world has for us
without Jesus.

MY CONFESSION
God uses a sinner
Though not a beginner
To pen each word
That he has heard
Did this man wonder
Having gone asunder
Why the words were there
Found floating in the air
What did God see
Why could this be
In times of distraction
Why now this attraction
Because the world abounds
With the Heavenly sounds
That will astound
As one is found
Forgiving his sin
God never gives in
On His love for us
So he sent us Jesus
That is why this man
Writing the words can
Write each word
He has heard.

I wrote two tonight
And I wonder why
It is not a fight
Distracted to try
Discussion:
WHERE HIS WORD LEADS
Reading the prophets,
Reading the Psalms,
Praying and giving alms.
Hoping all that calms
My soul will grow
In the seeds I sow.
From deep inside my pockets
I will remove my hands to praise
The One our God did raise.
Having suffered and died
My sin He could not abide.
He took my rightful place
For my life of disgrace.
I more than know, I believe
And through God’s grace I receive
Forgiveness of my sin.
Now in this race I will win.
I will sing the hymn
With words that Praise Him.
And on bended knees I will also pray
That in the end in His arms I will lay.

Discussion:
TOGETHER WE ARE ONE
“16 . . . All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.” (Col 1:16-18, NKJV))
Since the beginning of time
God’s will and ways do rhyme;
Such as on that darkened afternoon, the temple veil was torn,
Then again at the resurrection as new life was born.
We read God’s word and believe
That through His Son we receive
Blessings beyond measure,
Our Heavenly treasure.
We are the body of Christ
With the God given rights,
Not to stray, but to stay
In His truth, so we pray.
Jesus, the head of the body,
Which is His Holy Church.
As believers we are the body
Together we are His Church.
This is where we share
In faith with one another,
And where we learn to care
For a lost sister or brother.
With Jesus we are one.
And together we are one.
And before the day is done,
We find, “To Gather We Are One.”

THE BACK STORY: For a number of years, too many to mention (maybe 30), I suffered from a series of mini-strokes. Most times it was a visit to the ER and after a few hours, back home. The cause was not found. About 15 years ago I started hearing a voice in my head, It had a name, Baxter. Oh, he was a character, stuttering to say a word and coming out with another word meaning the same thing. Some people thought he was funny. Me, I liked collaborating with him on his stories. Over the years some of his friends joined him, including his Dad. Odd thing, for the last 8 years of so I have not experienced a mini stroke. MRIs until the last few years still showed signs of having had mini strokes. Lately, all is clear. My thoughts on this: the boys have needed the extra room since there are 6 of them, so they cleaned it out and remodeled my brain.
A couple of years ago one of my daughters had a t-shirt made up for me with a phrase about Papa on it. I asked her is she would have one done for “Team Baxter.” The back of the shirt has their names: Baxter, Kermit (Baxter’s Dad whose girlfriend Lilly has a pad in a pond,) Les the Newsman, Fernando, The Other Guy, and Gullible Gil (formerly Gus, not Gil). On the front of the shirt I had her put “2GETHER WE ARE 1. A few weeks ago I wore the shirt to church. One of the greeters at the door read the front of the shirt and thought the words were perfect for church. I guess I need to have another shirt made without the boys on the back. They will just have to accept that they are not always in charge of my brain or number 1 in my life.
Today I read Paul’s letter to the Colossians, which made me think of some recent sermons at church. Anyway, this is the result of my desire to write about together in church we are one, one with Jesus.
If you read the Back Story, you have my sympathy and heartfelt thanks.

MY FRIENDS
Yes, I’m a hermit
Just ask my friend Kermit
But I still like to get out
At times and shout
With screams of laughter
Just ask my friend Baxter
And there other times I try
To avoid the fish fry
Just ask the other guy
Or my wife
If you like
I express my views when I can
Just ask ask Ned the Newsman
And at times I have nowhere to go
Again ask my friend Fernaaaaando
I don’t want to make a fuss
Unless you want to meet Gullible Gus

AS WE CLOSE IN PRAYER, MAY WE CONTINUE IN PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father we come to you in prayer as we end today’s podcast. Dave and I thank You for Your leading us through the day and into tomorrow. We pray that today has been pleasing to You and and to our listeners and viewers.
We pray for our listeners and viewers; for their needs; physical healing, emotional healing and the salvation of those who have not yet accepted the gift of Your grace by faith.
We pray, Lord, for this world in which we live. Father, as Christians lead us to proclaiming the gospel where ever we are. May we do so in a loving way. Lead us to the truth of the days we are living in. We pray for the nation of Ukraine and its people; its leaders, those who have fled the country to find safety, those who stayed behind and those who are fighting the invading army of their enemy. May their faith and determination be an example to the entire world.
Dear Lord, prepare us and our listeners and viewers for the coming week. We pray that it is You we live for and You who leads us. As we walk with you this week, may it be Your hand clasped around our hand so we may feel the grasp of Your love.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen (10/10/22)
